Flashtoglory seeks back-to-back scores in Wooten and Valentini Stakes
David Meridyth’s Flashtoglory will be seeking to defend her title in Saturday’s 25th running of the $80,000 Lou Wooten and Sydney Valentini Stakes at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.
The New Mexico-bred mare by First Moonflash has been installed as the 4-to-1 morning line favorite in the 400-dash, a Grade 2 event restricted to statebred older fillies and mares
Flashtoglory, an eight-time winner with earnings of more than $553,000, won the Wooten and Valentini Stakes last year, kicking off a very successful 2025 campaign which included a pair of stakes wins at Zia Park. She enters the race with a two-race win streak and has lit the board in 20 of 26 career starts.
Bred and trained by Meridyth, Flashtoglory drew the 10 post in the Wooten and Valentini Stakes, which attracted a field of 12 when entries were posted on Sunday morning. She will be ridden once again by her regular pilot Christian Ramos.
Among the main rivals for Flashtoglory in the Wooten and Valentini Stakes will be 9-to-2 second choice Good Things Come, who just missed beating Flashtoglory in her most recent start, the New Mexico Classic Distaff last month at Zia Park.
Trained by Clinton Crawford for owner Renee K. Wilson, Good Things Come is a two-time winner with earnings of more than $135,000. Bred in New Mexico by Codi Burris, Good Things Come is a 5-year-old mare by Eye Am King. She will be ridden by Jacob Enriquez from post three in the Wooren and Valentini, which will go as the eighth on a nine-race program and has a scheduled post time of 3:32 p.m.
Wes Giles-trained Chicka Boom Babe, listed at 6-to-1 on the morning line with Noe Garcia, Jr. in the irons, is hoping to snap a 10-race losing streak when she loads into the gate for the Wooten and Valentini Stakes.
Owned by Robert M. Driggers and Ben Lee Ivey and bred in New Mexico by Ivey Cattle Co, Chicka Boom Babe has earned more than $315,000 while winning five times from 23 career starts.
