ThoroughbredAuctions.com has announced the Sam Stevens Thoroughbred Dispersal Sale, starting July 12 and running through July 19.

The auction will be an online-only event. Stevens and his late wife, Latie, began breeding Thoroughbreds in 1971. Over the years, Sam studied pedigrees and bought a core band of broodmares, including Faneuil Girl (Bolinas Boy-Miss Newcastle, by Coaltown). Faneuil Girl became a stakes winner herself, but her real value came in her ability to produce high-class runners. Her progeny included Grade 1 winner Feisty Girl, who sold as a yearling to D. Wayne Lukas.

Stevens has also been involved in a partnership that owned Ruidoso Downs and Sunland Park racetracks. After the opening of racinos at New Mexico track, he concentrated on raising and racing accredited New Mexico-breds with great success, as alone or in partnerships he has bred and raced horses who have earned more than $4 million. Horses bred by Stevens are easily recognized by the “Who” included in their names.

All horses during this sale will be sold with no reserve and will be available for inspection.
