Jess A Corona Dash scores in Mountain Top Juvenile

ALBUQUERQUE — Pavon Racing, LLC’s Jess A Corona Dash earned her second straight win and the first stakes win of her career when she prevailed in Sunday’s $50,000 Mountain Top New Mexico-bred QH Juvenile under jockey Jordy Muniz at Albuquerque Downs.

Trained by Omar Vargas, who also saddled Baby Daddy Cartel to victory in the $$309,521 Mountain Top New Mexico-Bred QH Futurity, Jess A Corona Dash had the lead from start to finish in the Juvenile, holding off a late rally by Bogarts Dreamgirl to win by a neck, racing 350 yards in a time of 17.14 seconds.

Jess A Corona Dash was bred in New Mexico by Mike and Yealonda Logan and sold for $50,000 at last year’s Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale. She won her trial heat here on May 30, but failed to qualify for the Futurity. Her final time in her trial heat was good enough for the consolation stakes race. She has two wins from four starts with earnings topping $33,000.

Sent off at odds of 7.80-to-1, Jess A Corona Dash paid $17.60 to her winning backers. The $2 exacta with Bogarts Dreamgirl returned $199. Hestan finished third while Tempered Daddy rounded out the top four finishers.
