Touraine, a 4-year-old Big Daddy Cartel mare racing for Reliance Ranches LLC, is one of a dozen New Mexico-bred distaffers entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $45,000 Rita Danley Distaff Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs.

Touraine made her season debut with a head victory in a 300-yard, $23,000 non-winners-of-three allowance dash at Remington Park on April 13. The mare has won three of 13 races, including two of seven at Ruidoso Downs, and she has earned $43,644.

Touraine drew the rail post and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon for trainer Cody Noel.

Two contenders — Kenia Pinela Marioni’s Woodys Storm and Amado S. Rivas’ Bonita Perla Gris — drew onto the also-eligible list. A sorrel daughter of Woodbridge trained by Jorge A. Morales-Flores, Woodys Storm is coming off of a neck victory at odds of 13-1 in the 400-yard, $100,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association Stakes (RG2) at Sunland Park.

Luis Martinez has been named to ride Woodys Storm from post 11.

Bonita Perla Gris is a sophomore Big Daddy Cartel filly trained by Lorenzo Vega, and she brings in a three-race win streak that includes a neck victory in a 350-yard, $41,000 non-winners-of-three allowance for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park on March 25.

Hector Aldrete has been named to ride Bonita Perla Gris from post 12.
