Eye Im Flashin, a sorrel son of Eye Am King owned by the Tungsten Racing Partnership, is the fastest qualifier to the November 24, $350,000-est. New Mexico Classics Futurity (RG2) for state-bred 2-year-old Quarter Horses at Zia Park.

Eye Im Flashin on Saturday won the first of seven 350-yard trials by 1 1/4 lengths from fifth-fastest qualifier Two Macho For You. Ridden by Luis Flores-Garcia for trainer Tony Sedillo, the gelding covered 350 yards in :17.096 while earning a 107 speed index and his third win in eight races.

Eye Im Flashin was bred by Paul P. Cervantes. The gelding is out of Startedwithawhisper, an unraced 8-year-old daughter of 2009 AQHA champion aged stallion First Moonflash.

Eye Im Flashin has banked $100,724, and his record includes a second-place finish, a nose behind winner Harken, in the 350-yard, $351,000 Mountain Top Futurity (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs in June.

BV Bridgette Cartel set the second-fastest qualifying time with her three-quarter length victory in the second heat. Trained by Ramon Mendoza for the Tungsten Racing Partnership, the gray daughter of Big Daddy Cartel stopped the timer in :17.193 under jockey Luis Flores-Garcia.

BV Bridgette Cartel was bred by Mac and Janis Murray’s MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico, and she was a $28,000 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The filly is out of Bridgette Bordeaux, a winning homebred Blushing Bug mare who ran second in Hi Beamer’s 2005 New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby (RG3) at Albuquerque Downs, and she is a half sister to graded stakes winners Vintage Bourdeaux and Jess Bordeaux.

BV Bridgette Cartel was winning for the second time in six outs and increasing her bankroll to $42,544. The filly was a finalist in two graded futurities, including the October 13, $1.160-million New Mexico State Futurity (RG2) at Albuquerque Downs.

Third-fastest qualifier Big Allstar won the fifth trial by 1 1/4 lengths. Trained by James Gonzales III for owners Denis and Julie Schoenhofer and racing on a sloppy and sealed track, Big Allstar went 350 yards in :17.290. Francisco Calderon rode the sorrel Big Daddy Cartel gelding.

Big Allstar was bred by MJ Farms, and he was purchased as a yearling by the Schoenhofers for $58,000 at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale. The gelding is out of Woodys Allstar, a homebred graded stakes-winning daughter of the Dash Ta Fame stallion Woodbridge, and he is a full sister to stakes-placed runners Renika and Passeanna.

Big Allstar was winning for the third time in six races and increasing his earnings to $56,353. The gelding was a finalist in the New Mexico State Fair Futurity.
