American Anthem, a Grade 2-winning 6-year-old son of the Empire Maker stallion Bodemeister, has been purchased by Reliance Ranches LLC of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and will stand at Kim Saunders’ Sierra Blanca Equine in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.
Racing in four states from 2016-20, American Anthem won six of 21 starts and earned $848,490. The Kentucky-bred stallion won three graded stakes, including the 2017 Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park, and the ’18 San Carlos Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park.
American Anthem is one of five winners produced by Indy’s Windy, a winning daughter of A.P. Indy and a half sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Banshee Breeze and stakes winner Unbridled Wind. His sale for stud duty was brokered by Patrick Morell of Morell Bloodstock LLC.
