Graded stakes winners Just En King and RC Corona King (pictured) are two of the dozen New Mexico-bred sprinters entered in Friday’s 400-yard, $70,000 Jimmy Drake Stakes (RG3) at SunRay Park.
Just En King will be making his 4-year-old season debut off of a sophomore campaign which ended with a neck victory in the November 26, $200,000 Namehimastreaker New Mexico Classics Championship (RG1) at Zia Park. Omar Vargas trains the homebred Eye Am King gelding for owner Ronald Ulibarri.
Just En King drew post 6 and will be ridden by Alfredo Sigala.
RC Corona King is coming off of a victory against open company in the 400-yard, $108,000 West Texas Maturity (G3) at Sunland Park on March 31. The 4-year-old Eye Am King gelding has earned $163,720 from 13 outs, and he began his season with a third-place finish, two lengths behind winner Flash Bak, in the open 440-yard, $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park (G1) on January 7.
Gerardo Quinonez trains RC Corona King for owner Jose H. Rodriguez. The gelding drew post 8 and will be ridden by Sergio Dominguezz.
