Gaylon McGee’s Izeright, a homebred son of Right Rigger, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 1-mile, $100,000 Casino at The Downs Derby (R) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-old Thoroughbreds.
Izeright brings in a three-race win streak that includes victories in the May 30, 6 1/2-furlong Dine Stakes (R) at SunRay Park, and the August 1, 5 1/2-furlong Road Runner Stakes (R). All told, the gray or roan gelding has won three of six starts in Arizona and New Mexico, and he has earned $79,397.
Izeright drew post 6 and will be ridden by Miguel Perez for trainer Bart Hone.
Fincher Racing ‘s One Mark, a gelded son of Marking trained by Todd Fincher, has won his last two starts, including a 5 1/2-furlong, $21,000 non-winners-of-two allowance for New Mexico-breds at Ruidoso Downs on July 31. One Mark has earned $59,538 from seven outs, and his resume includes a second-place finish in last year’s 5-furlong, $163,000 Mountain Top Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
One Mark drew the rail post and will be ridden by Rodolfo Guerra.
