No Pasa Nada (pictured) and Sambas Mark, a pair of stakes winners during the recently concluded Ruidoso Downs summer meet, are among the 10 New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds entered in Saturday’s 5 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Casey Darnell Stakes (R) at Albuquerque Downs.

The 5-2 morning-line favorite, No Pasa Nada is a 7-year-old Attila’s Storm gelding trained by Jose R. Gonzalez Jr. for owner Christopher Nathaniel Roybal. No Pasa Nada will be making his first start since July 22, when he rallied for a three-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Sierra Blanca Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs.

No Pasa Nada scored a half-length victory in last year’s Casey Darnell Stakes. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Elvin Gonzalez.

Sambas Mark races for Norman W. Allen, Chuck Sonnenberg, and Fincher Racing LLC from the barn of trainer Todd Fincher. A 3-year-old son of the Bernardini stallion Marking, the bay gelding will be facing older runners off of his two-length win in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Road Runner Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 23.

Sambas Mark drew post 3 and will be ridden by Karlo Lopez.

The Casey Darnell Stakes honors the memory of the late Clarence “Casey” Darnell, a longtime New Mexico-based horseman who was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2009. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments and morning-line odds:
