Ten New Mexico-bred 2-year-old Thoroughbred colts and geldings are entered back in Sunday’s 5-furlong, $97,628 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) at Albuquerque Downs.

Trial winners Holy Hank (pictured) and Holy Rebel drew posts 5 and 9, respectively. Trained by Simon Buechler for owners Robert M. Driggers, Del Rae Driggers, and Ben Lee Ivey, Holy Hank made his career debut with a wire-to-wire, 2 1/2-length victory in the second trial. The homebred son of the Midnight Lute stallion Holy Lute is one of three winners from as many starters produced by City Veil, a winning daughter of the Saint Ballado stallion Gotham City.

Holy Hank will be ridden by Tracy Hebert in the Senor Futurity final.

Holy Rebel is also trained by Simon Buechler for owners Robert M. Driggers, Del Rae Driggers, and Ben Lee Ivey. A homebred gray or roan Holy Lute gelding, Holy Rebel has won both of his outs, and he is coming off of a neck victory in the first Senor Futurity trial.

Holy Rebel is one of two winners from as many starters foaled by Sidewinder Sally, a daughter of Mr. Gold Mover who won the 2017 New Mexico Classics Oaks Championship R at Zia Park, and he is a half brother to the stakes-placed Sidewinder Slick. Enrique Gomez will ride the gelding in the Senor Futurity final.
