Bigg Shades Of Gray (pictured), a son of Eye Am King racing for Marcelino Gonzalez and Super Champion Inc., drew post 10 for Sunday’s 350-yard, $340,164 Mountain Top Futurity (RG2) for New Mexico-bred 2-year-old Quarter Horses at Ruidoso Downs.

A $58,000 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, Bigg Shades Of Gray has earned $30,330 from three starts, and his two wins include a neck victory in the 300-yard, $50,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes (R) at Sunland Park on April 1. The brown gelding will be ridden by Emilio Tapia for trainer Eric Valenzuela.

Valenzuela will also send out fastest qualifier Call Me Jessiecartel, a gelded son of Jess A Chicks owned by Empire Racing and Pavon Racing LLC. Call Me Jessiecartel broke his maiden with a three-quarter length win in the fourth of 12 Mountain Top Futurity trials on June 2.

Call Me Jessiecartel drew post 7 and will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr.
