Clay Harris’ Holdwhatyougot (pictured), a gelded son of Attila’s Storm trained by Greg Green, is one of 28 2-year-old state-bred Thoroughbreds entered in Sunday’s 6-furlong New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity (R) trials at Albuquerque Downs.

Three heats will be contested. The top four finishers in every trial will qualify to the October 13, $160,000-added final.

Holdwhatyougot broke his maiden with an upset wire-to-wire, half-length victory at odds of 21-1 in the 5-furlong, $98,000 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) at Albuquerque Downs on August 18. A $36,000 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, the gelding has earned $49,314 from three races.

Holdwhatyougot drew post 6 and will be ridden by Aldo Arboleda in the first trial. His eight opponents in the first heat include Holy Rebel, an undefeated son of Holy Lute trained by Simon Buechler for owners Robert M. Driggers, DelRae Driggers and Ben Lee Ivey. The homebred gray or roan gelding has won both of his outs, including a 5-furlong Rio Grande Senor Futurity trial on August 2.

Holy Rebel drew post 4 and will be ridden by Enrique Gomez.

Other prominent state-bred juveniles entered in Sunday’s trials include Holy Hank, a homebred Holy Lute gelding trained by Simon Buechler for owners Robert M. Driggers, DelRae Driggers, and Ben Lee Ivey. Holy Hank is coming off of a second-place finish to Holdwhatyougot in the Rio Grande Senor Futurity.

Holy Hank drew post 2 and will be ridden by Tracy Hebert in the second trial.
