White Lightenin (pictured), a 4-year-old son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Eye Am King racing for Denis and Julie Schoenhofer, will risk his win streak in Saturday’s 350-yard, $100,000 Pepsi Cola Handicap (R) for New Mexico-bred Quarter Horses at Sunland Park.
White Lightenin has won his last three starts, including the November 26, $229,000 New Mexico Classics Derby (RG2) at Zia Park, and he is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 1 1/4-length victory in the January 14, 400-yard Red or Green Stakes (RG2) at Sunland Park. James Gonzales III trains the sorrel gelding and $32,000 yearling purchase at the 2021 New Mexico-Bred Sale.
White Lightenin drew post 3 and will be ridden by Noe Garcia Jr.
