Mr. Trejo, Executive Director of the NM Racing Commission
explained that because they feel that a race meet starts on the first day of
entries, this schedule is acceptable.
This is a total of 194 days, a reduction of 61 days from
2019 when there were 255 days of racing.
The New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association proposed a total
of 256 days with Sunland Park running 70, SunRay Park running 27, Ruidoso Downs
running 47, the Downs At Albuquerque running 40, the New Mexico State Fair
running 17, & Zia Park running 55.
The race dates will be voted on by the Commissioners at
their next meeting to be held in person at 4900 Alameda Blvd, NE in Albuquerque
and is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. on July 22nd if you should wish to
attend.
