ALL FOALS MUST BE CONCEIVED AND BORN IN NEW MEXICO TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR NM BRED STATUS.
EXCEPTION (Bylaw change January 25, 2024): 1. All assisted reproduction techniques including but not limited to the transfer of embryos or oocytes must be performed within the State of New Mexico unless the service is not readily available in the state. OOCYTES may be done in other states if the out-of-state ICSI requirements are followed. The mare would be required to be enrolled in the Export Broodmare Program by October 1st of the year she was taken out of New Mexico.
If a Broodmare (Dam, Donor Mare (open or carrying) and/or Recipient Mares) bred to a registered NM Stallion, spends any part of the pregnancy outside the state of New Mexico:
(1) This application and $500 fee must be paid online or post marked no later than October 1st of the breeding year. (2) If the mare leaves New Mexico after October 1st, this application and $500 fee must be paid online or postmarked no later than 10 days from the departure date. (3) If the application and $500 is not received by the applicable deadline, the fee increases to $1,000 in order to maintain NM bred eligibility. No exceptions will be made and the foal MUST be born in New Mexico. All fees are non-refundable.
All mares must be registered in the Permanent New Mexico Broodmare Registry by September 1 of the breeding year or penalties will apply to all foals.
