Tight Fittin Jeans (pictured, green cap), a stakes winner during the Ruidoso Downs summer meet, is one of 10 New Mexico-bred 3-year-old fillies entered in Saturday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Petticoat Stakes (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
A homebred Shame On Charlie filly owned by Delinda Green, Corie O’Connor, and trainer Greg Green, Tight Fittin Jeans will be stretching out in distance off of her wire-to-wire, 1 1/2-length victory on a muddy and sealed track in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Sierra Starlet Handicap (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 25. Tight Fittin Jeans has won three of five starts and has earned $89,960, and she began her sophomore season with a second-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Two Stepper, in the 6-furlong, $100,000 La Senora Stakes (R) at Sunland Park on January 18.
Tight Fittin Jeans drew post 10 and will be ridden by Francisco Amparan. The filly’s nine opponents include Chary Ride, a homebred stakes-winning daughter of the Vronsky stallion Excessive Passion racing for Dr. Miguel Gallegos’ Gallegos del Norte Racing and C. Nate Roybal. Chary Ride has banked $61,460 from four starts this year, and her season record includes a victory in the 1-mile, $100,000 Enchantress Stakes (R) at Sunland Park.
Chary Ride drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jimmy Ray Coates for trainer Jose R. Gonzalez Jr.
