Blazinberryberryfast, a homebred daughter of Osbaldo racing for Hubaldo Solis, heads a field of 11 state-bred 3-year-old Quarter Horses entered in Sunday’s 400-yard, $40,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (RG3) at SunRay Park.
The 5-2 morning-line favorite, Blazinberryberryfast will be making her season debut. The filly has earned $31,240 from five starts, and her record includes a neck victory in the September 20, $50,000 New Mexico State Fair Juvenile Stakes (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
Blazinberryberryfast drew post 10 and will be ridden by Kevin Enriquez-Arenivas for trainer Ivan Tafoya.
Cervando Molinar’s El Chevo drew post 6 and will be ridden by Omar Iturralde for trainer Osman Iturralde. A homebred son of Osbaldo, the gelding has won two of four outs and has banked $20,086, and he ended his 2-year-old campaign with a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Run Potion, in the 350-yard, $16,000 New Mexico Cup Juvenile Stakes (R) at Zia Park on November 9.
