Lonzo Who (pictured, inside blue cap) and I’ve Got It won the two 6-furlong trials. Trained by Todd Fincher for owners Sam E. Stevens and Sammy L. Stevens of Lamesa, Texas, Lonzo Who won the first heat by a neck in 1:11.73. Rodolfo Guerra rode the homebred son of the Indian Charlie stallion Comfort.
Lonzo Who has won two of his five starts and has earned $41,381, and his record includes a second-place finish in the June 26, 5-furlong Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding is one of four winners from as many starters produced by Weekends For Love, a winning Maryland-bred daughter of the Mr. Prospector stallion Not For Love, and he is a half brother to 2020 Manzano Stakes runner-up Jonathan Who.
Lonzo Who’s second dam, the Ghazi mare Weeks, won the 2007 Witches Brew Stakes at The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.
I’ve Got It won the second trial by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:11.84. Duane Sterling rode the chestnut Attila’s Storm filly for owner J & SM Inc. of Fort Stockton, Texas, and trainer Fred Danley.
I’ve Got It was bred by R.D. Hubbard, and she was coming off of a second-place finish in the 5 1/2-furlong, $124,849 Rio Grande Senorita Thoroughbred Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs on August 15. The filly is one of seven winners from as many starters foaled by the winning and multiple stakes placed Dome mare Hang Glide, and she is a full sister to multiple stakes winners Thermal, Reaper, and Flight Song, and stakes winner Another Brother.
I’ve Got It has won one of three races and has banked $30,070.
