A field of six New Mexico-bred 3-year-old fillies, headed by multiple stakes winner Slammed (pictured), is entered in Saturday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Petticoat Stakes (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
A homebred daughter of Marking owned by Fincher Racing LLC, Brad King, and Suzanne Kirby, Slammed brings in a three-race win streak that includes an 11-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Sierra Starlet Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 31, and a 4 1/2-length score in the 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Carlos Salazar Stakes (R) at Albuquerque Downs on August 22. The bay filly drew post 5 and will be ridden by Tracy Hebert for trainer Todd Fincher.
Fincher will also send out two other Petticoat contenders, including Helen Nave’s Comic Hot Toddy, a stakes-winning homebred Indian Firewater filly. Comic Hot Toddy has earned $83,364 from five races, and her two wins include a five-length victory in last year’s 5 1/2-furlong, $134,000 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
Comic Hot Toddy will be making her first-ever start at Albuquerque Downs. The filly drew post 6 and will be ridden by Aldo Arboleda.
