A pair of 2021 New Mexico Cup stakes winners — Tucum and Jet N G — are among the nine state-bred Thoroughbreds entered in Sunday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Jamison Memorial Handicap (R) at Sunland Park.

A homebred son of King Bull trained by Danny Morales for owner Tucumcari Thoroughbreds, Tucum made his 4-year-old season debut with a 1 3/4-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong, $36,000 allowance race for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park on January 15. The dark bay or brown gelding ended his sophomore campaign with a four-length win in the 6-furlong, $100,000 New Mexico Cup Derby Championship (R) at Zia Park on October 31.

Tucum has earned $109,749 from eight races. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Enrique Gomez.

Jet N G is a homebred 7-year-old Mr. Trieste gelding trained by Gary Cross for owner Maurcenia Cross of Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Jet N G banked $122,278 from 12 starts last season, and his two wins included a one-length victory in the 1-mile, $100,000 Rocky Gulch New Mexico Cup Championship (R).

Jet N G drew post 4 and will be ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr.
