Eight New Mexico-bred 2-year-olds, headed by morning-line favorite Smartsrealgood, are entered in Monday’s 1-mile & 70-yard, $125,000 Hobbs Fall Classic Stakes (R) at Zia Park.
Smartsrealgood is coming off of a two-length victory in the 6-furlong, $125,000 New Mexico Cup Juvenile Championship (R) at Zia Park on October 30. The gelded son of the Afleet Alex stallion Sway Away races for R. Dwain Yarbar, Duncan Hamilin, and trainer Greg Green.
Smartsrealgood drew post 6 and will be ridden by Francisco Amparan.
Other contenders include Rex Williams’ Seventh St Diamond and Andy A. Banegas’ Antonios Mark. A homebred daughter of the Bernardini stallion Marking trained by Dick Cappellucci, Seventh St Diamond will be stretching out in distance off of her one-length win in the 6-furlong, $125,000 New Mexico Cup Lassie Championship (R) at Zia Park on October 30.
Seventh St Diamond drew post 2 and will be ridden by Joree Scriver.
Antonios Mark is an undefeated son of Marking trained by Dallas Barton. The chestnut gelding has won both of his starts and has earned $27,000, and he is coming off of a three-quarter length victory in a 6-furlong, $39,000 non-winners-of-two-allowance for state-breds at Zia Park on November 14.
Antonios Mark drew post 8 and will be ridden by Oscar Ceballos.
