Hollywood Henry (pictured), a 6-year-old Roll Hennessy Roll gelding owned by Bennie A. Vanecek, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 5 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Casey Darnell Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds.
Hollywood Henry is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 5 3/4-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Sierra Blanca Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 31. The gelding has won nine of 26 starts — including six of 10 at the 5 1/2-furlong trip — and he has earned $291,035.
Hollywood Henry drew post 2 and will be ridden by Duane Sterling for trainer Fred Danley. His seven opponents include Wheredoesthecashogo, a 6-year-old son of Southwestern Heat trained by Andres Gonzalez for owners Amanda Sweeten and Pedro Navarez Hernandez. Wheredoesthecashgo is winless in two outs this season, but he ended his 5-year-old campaign with a 2 1/4-length victory as the 4-5 favorite in the 6-furlong, $50,000 New Mexico Cup Sprint Championship (R) at Zia Park.
Wheredoesthecashgo drew post 4 and will be ridden by Miguel Perez.
