JP D Bandida Regard, a homebred daughter of Chicks Regard racing for J. Patricia Gonzalez, heads the field into the Apri 3, $50,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes (R) for state-bred juvenile Quarter Horses.
Trained by Juan Carlos Gonzalez and ridden by Kevin Enriquez-Arenivas, JP D Bandida Regard on Saturday won the second of eight 300-yard New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) trials by a nose in :15.670. The filly’s clocking was accomplished against a reported 5-mph head wind.
JP D Bandida Regard is out of D Bandida, a homebred winning daughter of the Royal Quick Dash stallion Sixes Royal. Her second dam, the winning Major Rime mare Authorized Rime, ran third in the 2005 Zia Juvenile Invitational Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs and was a finalist in that season’s New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG1).
