Major Game, a graded stakes placed son of the Walk Thru Fire stallion Gronkowski, drew post 10 for Sunday’s 350-yard, $120,000-added New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3) for state-bred 2-year-olds at SunRay Park.
Major Game is coming off of a one-length victory in one of seven trials on May 6. The chestnut gelding has won two of three races and has earned $43,073 for owners Jaime Perez, Andres Estrada, and J. Santos Espinoza, and his early season record includes a third-place finish, one length behind winner Jesses Wish, in the April 3, $313,000 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) at Sunland Park.
Major Game will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr. for trainer Eric Valenzuela.
Other contenders include fastest qualifier Sheza Ahotmess, a homebred daughter of 2009 AQHA champion aged stallion First Moonflash trained by Guadalupe Munoz Jr. for owner Sherree Meridyth. Sheza Ahotmess set the fastest qualifying time with her 1 3/4-length victory in her trial.
Sheza Ahotmess drew the rail post and will be ridden by Gerardo Vera.
