Mi Moonflash (pictured, red silks), a multiple stakes winner during her 2022 campaign, will make her 6-year-old season debut in Saturday’s 400-yard, $100,000 Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares at Sunland Park.
Trained by Todd Fincher for owners Pierre Amestoy, Leslie Amestoy, and Roger K. Beasley, Mi Moonflash ended her 5-year-old season with a half-length victory in the December 11, 400-yard New Mexico Fillies and Mares Championship (RG1) at Zia Park. The daughter of champion First Moonflash is coming off of a ’22 campaign during which she earned $171,946 and won three stakes from eight starts.
Mi Moonflash drew post 10 and will be ridden by Alfredo Sigala.
EZ On My Mind is coming off of a second-place finish to Mi Moonflash in the New Mexico Fillies and Mares Championship. Celio Trujillo Jr. trains the homebred 6-year-old Genuine Strawfly mare for owners David and Jeannette Ellis.
EZ On My Mind drew post 3 and will be ridden by Agustin Silva.
