Moonlight Warrior, a homebred daughter of the Arch stallion Archwarrior owned by V Bar V Racing LLC, will put her win streak on the line in Saturday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Petticoat Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-old fillies at Albuquerque Downs.
Moonlight Warrior is coming off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign during which she won both of her starts, including a 6-furlong, $39,200 non-winners-of-three allowance race for state-bred fillies and mares on September 3. An earner of $86,090 from six races — all in New Mexico — and the Petticoat Stakes will mark her first-ever start at Albuquerque Downs.
Moonlight Warrior drew the rail post and will be ridden by Miguel Fuentes Jr. for trainer Joel Marr.
Other contenders include Mama Was A Rocket, a homebred daughter of the Artax stallion Diabolical owned by J. Kirk and Judy Robison of El Paso, Texas. The chestnut filly prepped for this race with a four-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong, $44,300 non-winners-of-three allowance for state-bred fillies and mares at Albuquerque Downs on October 15.
Mama Was A Rocket drew post 2 and will be ridden by Tracy Hebert for trainer Todd Fincher.
