A dozen state-bred 2-year-old Quarter Horses, including two also-eligible entries, are entered in Saturday’s 300-yard, $50,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes (R) at Sunland Park.

Equifine LLC’s Wish For A King, a gelded son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Eye Am King and a $30,000 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, drew the rail post and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez for trainer Ricardo Armendariz Jr. Wish For A King made his official debut with a head victory at odds of 11-1 in the third of nine New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) trials on March 10.

The other Spring Futurity trial winner in this race, Eye Wanna Pizza You, is a daughter of Eye Am King trained by Marc Jungers for owners Lance R. Moore and Daniel E. Henry. An $11,000 yearling buy at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale, the sorrel filly scored a three-quarter length win in the fifth trial.

Eye Wanna Pizza You drew post 5 and will be ridden by Christian Ramos.
