Nine New Mexico-bred Thoroughbred sprinters, headed by morning-line favorite Rig Time (pictured), are entered in Sunday’s 5 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Casey Darnell Handicap (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
A homebred 5-year-old son of Right Rigger owned by brothers Larry Teague and T. Harry Teague of Hobbs, New Mexico, Rig Time is coming off of a 3 1/2-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Sierra Blanca Handicap (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 26. The gelding has won eight of 22 starts and has earned $347,154, and he will be making his Albuquerque debut in this race.
Rig Time drew post 2 and will be ridden by Isaias Enriquez for trainer Weston Martin.
