Ruidoso Downs Racetrack has announced a 20-percent purse increase for its overnight races, effective June 17.

“This is a healthy increase,” said Ruidoso Downs chief operating officer Rick Baugh. “We will continue to reward our horsemen whenever we are able to pass along any purse increases for overnight competition.”

Racing at Ruidoso Downs continues this weekend with three 5-furlong Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity (R) trials for New Mexico-bred 2-year-olds, the $686,000 Ruidoso Derby (G1) for 3-year-old Quarter Horses on Saturday, and the $1-million Ruidoso Futurity (G1) for 2-year-old Quarter Horses on Sunday.
