Seven New Mexico-bred fillies and mares are entered in Sunday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $70,000 Russell & Helen Foutz Distaff Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

Charlies Hurricane, a homebred 5-year-old Shame On Charlie mare racing for Rodney Brooks, Marty Brooks, Glenn Berry, and Donnie Reid, will be stretching out in distance off of her wire-to-wire, 4 1/2-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong allowance-optional claiming ($12,500) race at Sunland Park on March 28. Simon Buechler trains Charlies Hurricane.

Charlie’s Hurricane drew post 7 and will be ridden by Irwin Rosendo.

Larry E. Young’s First Again will be shortening in distance off of her second-place finish, four lengths behind winner Corrina Corrina, in the April 7, 1-mile Peppers Pride Handicap (R) at Sunland Park. Danny Morales trains the homebred 4-year-old Axiomatic filly, who ended her sophomore season with a second-place finish in the November 27, 6-furlong New Mexico Classics Oaks Championship (R) at Zia Park.

First Again drew post 3 and will be ridden by Daniel Vergara.
