Delbert Too, a stakes-winning son of the Bernardini stallion Marking racing for B4 Farms LLC, Lee Owens and Dale Alan Doby, will make his sophomore season debut in Sunday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Dine Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds at SunRay Park.
Delbert Too will be making his first start since September 20, when the bay gelding finished second, 2 3/4 lengths behind winner Aisle Runner, in the 6-furlong, $279,000 New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity (R) at Albuquerque Downs. A $25,000 yearling purchase at the 2019 New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, Delbert Too has earned $122,535 from four outs, and he scored a three-quarter length victory in last year’s 5 1/2-furlong, $135,000 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
Delbert Too drew post 4 and will be ridden by Aldo Arboleda for trainer Todd Fincher.
Other contenders include Margaret V. Bloss’ Line Call, a daughter of the Peace Rules stallion Chip Shot trained by Nancy Summers and a $20,000 yearling buy. One of two fillies in the eight-horse field, Line Call ended her 2-year-old campaign with a 2 1/2-length win the November 11, 6-furlong New Mexico Cup Lassie Championship (R) at Zia Park.
Line Call has won two of five starts and has banked $44,952. The filly drew post 6 and will be ridden by Duane Sterling.
