A field of 10 New Mexico-bred fillies and mares, topped by morning-line favorite Slammed (pictured), is entered in Sunday’s 6-furlong, $100,000 La Coneja Stakes (R) a Sunland Park.

A homebred 4-year-old Marking filly racing for Brad King and trainer Todd Fincher, Slammed ended her season with a fourth-place finish, 5 3/4 lengths behind winner Paulines Pearl, in the open 1 1/16-mile, $200,000 Zia Park Oaks on November 23. Slammed is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which she earned $237,605 from eight starts and won four stakes.

Slammed drew post 7 and will be ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr.

Count Them Again, a multiple stakes winning 5-year-old daughter of Premeditation owned by Lola L. Cuellar and Alexandria M. Cuellar, drew post 4 and will be ridden by Erick Medellin for trainer Raul Vega. Count Them Again will be stretching out in distance off of her victory by disqualification in the open 5 1/2-furlong, $65,000 Bold Ego Handicap on January 9.

Count Them Again has won nine of 16 outs and has banked $367,126, and her six stakes wins include last year’s 6 1/2-furlong, $55,000 Russell and Helen Foutz Distaff Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

Other contenders include Paul Jenson’s Lemon Drop Gold, a daughter of Mr. Gold Mover who made her 5-year-old season debut with an upset victory in the 5 1/2-furlong, $100,000 New Mexico State Racing Commission Handicap on New Year’s Day. Lemon Drop Gold drew post 5 and will be ridden by Frank Reyes for trainer Juan Carlos Gonzalez.
