A dozen New Mexico-bred Thoroughbred sprinters, led by morning-line favorite Still In The Trap, are entered in Friday’s 5 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Mt. Cristo Rey Handicap (R) at Sunland Park.

A 4-year-old son of the Desert God stallion Proceed trained by Todd Fincher for owner Dale F. Taylor Racing, Still In The Trap has won or finished second in all of his last four starts, and he is coming off of a 1 1/4-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong, $44,000 allowance race for state-breds on February 23.

Still In The Trap drew post 3 and will be ridden by Felipe Valdez.

One Mark, the 124-pound highweight, is a 6-year-old Marking gelding trained by Todd Fincher for owners Leslie A. Amestoy, Pierre J. Amestoy Jr., and Roger K. Beasley. One Mark will be shortening in distance off of his ninth-place finish in the March 8, 1 1/16-mile Albert & Henry Dominguez Memorial Handicap (R), but he has won two of his three races at the Sunland meet, including the 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Jamison Memorial Handicap (R) on February 9.

One Mark drew the rail post and will be ridden by Tracy Hebert.
