R. Dwain Yarbar’s Wheres Brayden (pictured), a homebred son of the Artie Schiller stallion Artful Run, drew post 5 for Sunday’s 1-mile, $100,000 Red Hedeman Mile Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds at Sunland Park.
Wheres Brayden will be stretching out in distance off of his third-place finish, 2 3/4 lengths behind winner Bye Bye Matty P, in the January 9, 6-furlong Corralito Steak House Stakes (R). The bay gelding has earned $178,505 from eight outs, and his two career stakes victories include a wire-to-wire, 2 1/2-length win in the December 13, $100,000 Steve Prather Stakes (R) at Zia Park.
Wheres Brayden will be ridden by Enrique Gomez for trainer Greg Green. Other contenders include Massive Roar, a homebred son of the Afleet Alex stallion Sway Away trained by Todd Fincher for owner The Quarter Company LLC.
