The Quarter Company’s Massive Roar (pictured), a homebred 5-year-old son of the Afleet Alex stallion Sway Away trained by Todd Fincher, is one of eight New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds entered in Saturday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $75,000 Jack Cole Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.
Massive Roar is coming off of a dominating 7 1/2-length victory in a 6-furlong, $44,000 allowance race for state-breds at Sunland Park on April 7. The gelding has won three of his four starts at SunRay Park, including last year’s $100,000 Jack Cole Stakes (R).
Massive Roar drew post 5 and will be ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr.
Trainer Martin Valdez Cabral Jr. will send out two Jack Cole contenders, including My Special Mistake. A 4-year-old son of the Pulpit stallion Abstraction racing for Carol Ledezma, My Special Mistake has won three of his last four starts, including a 6 1/2-furlong, $33,000 open-condition allowance for New Mexico-breds at SunRay Park on April 13.
My Special Mistake drew post 8 and will be ridden by Irwin Rosendo.
