Slammed (pictured), a homebred 3-year-old Marking filly racing for Fincher Racing LLC, Brad King, and Suzanne Kirby, will face older fillies and mares for the first time in Sunday’s 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Carlos Salazar Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred distaffers at Albuquerque Downs.

Slammed is coming off of a dominating wire-to-wire, 11-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong, $50,000 Sierra Starlet Stakes (R) for state-bred 3-year-old fillies at Ruidoso Downs on July 31. The filly has won three of four races and has earned $49,605, and she has won her last two starts by a combined 20 lengths.

Slammed drew post 8 and will be ridden by Tracy Hebert for trainer Todd Fincher. Her 11 opponents include Count Them Again and Flight Song. A 4-year-old daughter of Premeditation trained by Ever Olguin for owners Lola L. Cuellar and Alexandria M. Cuellar, Count Them Again has won eight of 13 starts, and her three wins in four outs at Albuquerque Downs include last year’s 6 1/2-furlong, 100,000 Petticoat Stakes (R) for sophomore fillies.

Count Them Again drew post 5 and will be ridden by Rigo Sarmiento.

Flight Song is stretching out in distance off of her come-from-behind three-quarter length win in at odds of nearly 10-1 in the 6-furlong, $50,000 Lincoln Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs on August 1. Trained by Jimmy Padgett for owners Pierre Amestoy Jr., Leslie Amestoy, and Roger K. Beasley, the 5-year-old daughter of Attila’s Storm has won two of her three races at Albuquerque Downs, including last year’s Carlos Salazar Stakes.

Flight Song drew post 10 and will be ridden by Luis H. Rodriguez.
