Over Da Edge (pictured), a two-time stakes winner during the current Sunland Park meet, is one of 11 state-bred 3-year-old Quarter Horses entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $100,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association Stakes (RG2).

Trained by Eric Valenzuela for owners Miguel Y. Gallegos and Mauricio Gallegos, Over Da Edge has won five of 10 races and has earned $217,986, of which $160,984 has been banked from three outs this season. The sorrel daughter of Eye Am King has won all three of her starts during the Sunland Park meet, including the 400-yard, $193,000 Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) on February 4, and the 350-yard, $100,000 Sunburst Stakes (RG3) on March 3.

Over Da Edge drew post 4 and will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr. Eric Valenzuela will also send out Call Me Jessiecartel, a graded stakes winning Jess A Chicks gelding racing for Empire Racing and Pavon Racing LLC. Call Me Jessiecartel is coming off of a fifth-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind Over Da Edge, in the Shue Fly Stakes, but the gelding was coming off of a juvenile campaign during which he banked $241,724 from seven races and won the 400-yard, $388,000 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs.
